123 Book Meme

I saw this meme on Graham's page One Man's Travel Blog. It looked interesting so I decided to participate in it.

The rules are as follows:

1. Pick up the nearest book of at least 123 pages.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next three sentences.
5. Tag five people.

I don't believe I can just pick one but here are my choices.

1.)

Anne Frank : The Diary of a Young Girl
Translated from Dutch by B.M. Mooyart-Doubleday
with an introduction by Eleanor Roosevelt

Perhaps the most famous personal account of the Holocaust, The Diary of Anne Frank was written in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, between 1942 and 1944. The Franks were a Jewish family originally from Germany, where Anne was born in 1929. Anne’s father, Otto, had come from a wealthy background, but his family’s fortune was lost after World War I.

" I believe Mummy thinks there could be no better relationship between parents and their children, and that no one could take a greater interest in their children's lives than she. But quite definity she only looks at Margot, who I don't think everhad such problems and thoughts as I do. Still, I wouldn't dream of pointing out to Mummy that, in the case of her daughters, it isn't at all as she imagines, because she would be utterly amazed and wouldn't know how to change anyway; I want to save her the unhappiness it would cause her, especially as I know that for me everything remain the same anyway."
2.)

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

By: J. K. Rowling

Harry has been burdened with a dark, dangerous and seemingly impossible task: that of locating and destroying Voldemort's remaining Horcuxes. Never has Harry felt so alone, or faced a future so full of shadows. But Harry must somehow find within himself the strength to complete the task he has been given. He must leave the warmth, safety and companionship of The Burrow and follow without fear or hesitation the inexorable path laid out for him...
In this final, seventh instalment of the Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling unveils in spectacular fashion the answers to the many questions that have been so eagerly awaited.

Harry, Ron, Hermione looked at one another.

"A surprise, apparently! You were not aware then that Dumbledore had left you anything?"

"A-all of us?" said Ron. " Me and Hermione too?"

"Yes, all of-----"

3.)

The Neverending Story

By : Michael Ende

Translated from German by Ralph Manheim

The book centres on a boy, Bastian Balthazar Bux, who meets a mysterious man who owns a small antique bookstore and steals a book from it called The Neverending Story, which he reads.
The book begins in Fantastica (Phantásien in the German novels; Fantasia in the films), when a "will-o'-the-wisp" goes to ask the Childlike Empress for help against the Nothing, which is spreading over the land. The Empress herself is ill, which is believed to be the cause of the Nothing (or viceversa); she sends the only person that can stop the Nothing, a boy warrior named Atreyu, to find a cure for her. Atreyu is a brave person, but everyone thought he was a man even though he is a young boy. While on his quest, Atreyu meets characters such as Benjamin, Uyulala, and the gnomes Urgl and Engywook. Atreyu also meets Falkor, the luckdragon, who helps him along the way.

'Do you think I wouldn't have bitten through it myself if this were an ordinary chain?"

As though to prove his point, he clamped his jaws on the chain. The chain jangled as he tugged and pulled at it. After awhile he let it go.

'It's a magic chain. Only the person who put it on can take it off . But she will never come back.

Well these were my choices for the Meme. I hope you enjoy them.

I would however like to tag

Sindi and Stacy for this meme and whoever else would like to participate.
