Up in Smoke

I found out earlier this month that my old childhood home burned down. I had an old neighbor go over to the house with me so I could take some pictures. When I walked into the yard I had a wall of childhood memories hit me like a brick. All of the good, the bad and the ugly memories. Here are the pics.

This is the front of my old house! The porch used to be enclosed.

This is the back of my old house. The garage use be open and used only as a carport. I also use to climb out the upstairs window to sunbathe on the porch roof.

This picture is looking into the picture window. There use to be a dividing wall where the first arrow to the left is. The second arrow shows the staircase. The third arrow shows somrthing added that wasn't there when i lived there. The other arrows are pointing to the doors to other rooms.

In this picture you can see to windows towards the front. These use to be my old bedroom windows.

At some point I will talk of some of the memories I have of living there. I'm just not quite ready for that yet. I'll try to find some old pictures of the inside.

I understand ... maybe not quite as strongly though.

I was in a Southern part of the state today, and the place I lived in 18 years ago was gone, and replaced by a new and better community. Nothing was the same. The bulldozer started over. I could not even tell exactly where i was.

It seemed that there was part of a trail I used to walk and think at the end of a new street.

I felt old, and had so many flashbacks. Things change so much in life, don't they??

Thank the Lord that what and who we are remain intact. Our memories hold truth to the past - even when you cannot go back.

I have a feeling this was hard for you to see .... Hug from me to you.

Eric
